Roma Flour Power

DSCF6222
So the pasta and Italian food company, Roma, sent me their new Roma Pizza and Pasta Flour to try out. Roma pretty much did an anti-St.Patrick and brought pasta to the masses in Ireland in the 1950′s under the name Dublin Macaroni Company. Right history lesson over, lets get to the flour!

So I’m sitting here with a bag of flour infront of me. Doesn’t look special, kinda heavy, if I throw a stick it doesn’t fetch it, so whats the big deal? Imagine your kitchen as a blackboard and the Roma Pizza and Pasta Flour as the chalk, you can create so much with the flour within the kitchen! I decided to make pizza, doesn’t sound too adventurous does it? Im the guy who two weeks ago tried to bake a rasher for an hour, so yeah, making pizza was kinda a big deal!

Looking for Inspiration and the ingredients

The packaging fairly idiot proof, theres instructions on how to make pizza dough and pasta on the back and all…. I’ve just been informed the correct term is recipe, who knew? They also have a handy collection of these “recipes” on their website!

So I start off following the recipe for pizza dough on the back of the packaging. Now the recipe was really easy to follow, nothing major. When I was making it, it was just, simple. When I had made the dough, it was the right mixture of strong and yet easy to shape, not breaking apart. kneading it and rolling it was like beating up a cloud, so soft and easy to shift. After it finished rising for around an hour, a little confusing to what knocking it back was, I lay it on a baking tray, rolled it around, BAM, added some Puree, BAM, added some cheese, BAM, added some ham, I felt pretty badass. I shoved my first ever homemade pizza into the oven preheated at 200°C and kicked backed. DSCF6229
Suffice to say I had no idea what I was doing

15-20 minutes later I came back and took out, probably the greatest thing I’ve made since pancakes, outta the oven. Despite my novice chef ‘skillz’, and that my pizza looked more like something out of a Salvador Dali painting, it tasted pretty epic, like eating candy floss, dreams and magic…. so basically like eating a unicorn or something.

You can cook the dough to a soft or crispy base, with varying levels of thickness dependent on how you like your pizza. The base stays strong and won’t fall apart on you. The Roma Flour based base really amplifies all the toppings that sit atop it. In addition to smelling nice (sounds weird), it is also really filling.

Before and after the oven…

Pizza is just one of the many things you can create with flour! You can find Roma Pizza and Pasta Flour in all good supermarkets, if not, send an angry letter to the manager of that supermarket demanding it or he’ll never see his dog again.

V (2009) Episode 1 Impressions (w/ link to episode video)

V, is a remake of the classic cult mini-series, the filming and editing style is similar to that of the movie ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ or the popular tv series ‘Heroes’, the kind of ‘realistic-oh I could see how that happening’ style, the story focuses around various characters and the happenings around them.

Now I was about 7-8 years off the original which first aired in 1984, however I did watch all of them and subsequently discussed in depth with my cousin. The original was groundbreaking, even a good 20 years later I had’nt seen anything like it!

Now because I know where its ultimately gonna end up, its hard to write this without spoiling anything. So what can we tell from the first episode? Well to sum it up, aliens appear in about 15 massive ships. they are humanoids (they look like humans basically), they say they thought they were the only intelligent life forms, they found earth, they need rations, blah blah blah. They act all kind and they share their technologies, heal people with aliments and show them around their ships.

Now an interesting thing as  pointed out by an character is that at the start they all love the ‘V’s (name of the alien race), which starts to turn into obsession and then can turn into worship, We see this starting up within 2 young characters. The character who suggest this obsession to worship chain is interesting, as he is one of the only cautious one initially, trying to tell others to be careful.

How does it measure up to the original? Well the remake is more drawn out than the original, it may seem they want to have this new series run longer, however the newer is more realistic than the original.

The first episode aired last night in the states, (if the link is still valid) you can watch it here: http://www.zshare.net/video/67937329f1b5ce86/

C.B.D:Complusive Blogging Disorder

Well alot of us are procastinators, let’s face it, from the small things to the big, ergo proper blogging is a bitch, it constantly requires new entries to justify it’s existance or good quality material, eventually the gimick wears off if there’s no reward involved be it financal or getting a high after posting an entry, I take my hat to Tommy Collison ( http://trusttommy.com ) who keeps on trucking in a blogging sense and the feedback is really starting to show! For the simpleton like me, who have a blog at the backass of nowhere on the net, it’s sorta depressing to see little to none feedback.

I’m gonna follow the basic blogging rules, short but sweet, blog often, only what others find interesting, blah blah blah and I’m gonna try crack this blogging system.

Either that or I’ll revert to my usual procastination
^_^
