How to stop your facebook account spamming people (revoke and remove app permissions)

Someones been doing nice work with the facebook API.

If your (or a friend’s) facebook account is spamming someone over chat or posting comments like this:

this is because they let a facebook app access their profile and it now has control over it. This is then used in turn to trick others into doing the aforementioned and sending people to links with ads and scams to make the creator of this money. Heres what you do to stop the app having permission of your account and thus stop spam.

1. Login into facebook and click on  Account on the top right and click on the Privacy Settings option!

2.This will bring you to the Account Privacy settings page, on the bottom left click edit your settings under Apps and Websites

3. Now under the list of apps click the Remove unwanted or spammy apps option

4.You’ll now see a list of apps that have access to your facebook account, not all are bad, but remove anyone that looks dodgy, if paranoid, remove all. To remove a app, click the ‘x‘ icon to the extreme right of it. The apps are listed in order of how recently they accessed your account, from this you can determine the spam ones.

5.You’ll now be prompted to remove it, which you can do so.

This will stop the app from being able to use your account, report the app to facebook. You may also want to consider changing your password or security question as the app may have pulled some of your basic info. You should also reexamine your privacy settings on the privacy page and adjust them fittingly (props Ben).

Print. Cut. Fold. Glue. Admire. Repeat.

Basically recently got addicted to papercraft, do it most nights after supervised study. tough to make, pretty to look at, awesome to photograph and CHEAP! Favourite one I’ve so far is the cartoony style ‘Link’ from Legend of Zelda:Windwalker.

V (2009) Episode 1 Impressions (w/ link to episode video)

V, is a remake of the classic cult mini-series, the filming and editing style is similar to that of the movie ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ or the popular tv series ‘Heroes’, the kind of ‘realistic-oh I could see how that happening’ style, the story focuses around various characters and the happenings around them.

Now I was about 7-8 years off the original which first aired in 1984, however I did watch all of them and subsequently discussed in depth with my cousin. The original was groundbreaking, even a good 20 years later I had’nt seen anything like it!

Now because I know where its ultimately gonna end up, its hard to write this without spoiling anything. So what can we tell from the first episode? Well to sum it up, aliens appear in about 15 massive ships. they are humanoids (they look like humans basically), they say they thought they were the only intelligent life forms, they found earth, they need rations, blah blah blah. They act all kind and they share their technologies, heal people with aliments and show them around their ships.

Now an interesting thing as  pointed out by an character is that at the start they all love the ‘V’s (name of the alien race), which starts to turn into obsession and then can turn into worship, We see this starting up within 2 young characters. The character who suggest this obsession to worship chain is interesting, as he is one of the only cautious one initially, trying to tell others to be careful.

How does it measure up to the original? Well the remake is more drawn out than the original, it may seem they want to have this new series run longer, however the newer is more realistic than the original.

The first episode aired last night in the states, (if the link is still valid) you can watch it here: http://www.zshare.net/video/67937329f1b5ce86/
